Before you call

Every question we get at the counter.

The home page covers the short version. This is the complete list, split the way we actually think about it: windshields and chips, insurance, tint, and everything about ADAS and mobile service. If your question is not here, call (619) 444-4004 and ask us directly.

Category one

Windshield and Chip Repair

Timing, cost, the glass we stock, and what to do in the first 24 hours.

Most replacements take 60 to 90 minutes. We use DOW and Sika certified urethane, which reaches drive away strength in about an hour, so you are not leaving the car overnight.

If the chip is smaller than a quarter, a bullseye, a star or a partial crack, we can usually repair it in about 30 minutes with no appointment. Chips sitting in the driver's line of sight, anything longer than six inches, and anything that has already run into a crack need a full replacement.

Self pay starts at $35.99. If you carry comprehensive coverage it is often $0, and we file the claim for you.

We stock OEM equivalent glass from PGW, Carlite, FYG, Carlex and Pilkington, and we can source factory glass when a dealer warranty calls for it.

Every windshield install carries a lifetime workmanship warranty with no expiration date. Llumar ceramic and nano ceramic film carries a lifetime manufacturer warranty against bubbling, peeling, color change and delamination, plus our lifetime install workmanship warranty.

After a windshield, skip the car wash and do not slam the doors hard for 24 hours. After tint, leave the windows up for three to five days and keep cleaners away from the film for the first week. Once it has cured, use an ammonia free cleaner and a microfiber cloth.

Category two

Insurance and Coverage

What comprehensive coverage actually pays for, and why you do not need to call your insurer before you call us.

Comprehensive coverage typically covers it with nothing out of pocket. California law also stops insurers from raising your premium over a single comprehensive glass claim. You do not need to call them first. Bring your insurance card and a photo ID and we handle the claim.

Category three

Window Tinting

California’s legal limits, and the real difference between dyed, ceramic and nano ceramic film.

Front side windows have to let at least 70 percent of light through. Rear side windows and the rear windshield can be any darkness as long as you have both side mirrors. The windshield itself is limited to a four inch strip along the top. We will walk you through what is legal before we cut anything.

Standard dyed film mostly just darkens. Ceramic blocks 99 percent of UV and a lot more heat without interfering with phone or radio signal. Nano ceramic uses a finer particle compound for better heat rejection, better clarity and more durability. We are a Llumar authorized dealer and both carry a lifetime film warranty.

Category four

ADAS, Mobile and General

Camera calibration, how far the mobile van travels, and walking in without an appointment.

Most 2016 and newer vehicles with a forward facing camera behind the glass do, and California law requires it on equipped vehicles. We calibrate in house on Autel certified equipment, static and dynamic, so there is no separate dealer trip.

Yes, by appointment, anywhere within about 50 miles of El Cajon across San Diego County. The one thing that cannot travel is static target ADAS calibration, which has to be done in the shop.

Walk ins are welcome Monday to Saturday at both shops, and rock chip repairs are first come first served. Mobile jobs need a scheduled appointment.

Still not sure

Tell us what happened and we will tell you what it needs.

Most of what walks through the door is a five minute answer once we can see it. Mon to Sat, 8am to 5:30pm, closed Sunday, walk ins welcome at both shops.
