Six jobs make up most of what A1 does in a given week: windshields, chip repair, ADAS recalibration, Llumar tint, mobile service and power window repair. Each one below is written the way we would actually explain it at the counter, not a menu of buzzwords. Side and rear glass, sunroof repair and headlight restoration are handled too, and they are covered further down.

Windshield Replacement
The glass you drive away on is picked to match the car in front of us, not whatever is closest on the shelf.
The glass we stock, and why it matters
We stock OEM equivalent glass from PGW, Carlite, FYG, Carlex and Pilkington, so the right windshield for your car is usually already on the rack rather than something we have to order and wait on. If your vehicle is still under a dealer warranty and that warranty calls for factory glass, we can source it instead. The goal is the same either way: fit, optical clarity and camera mounting that match what left the factory, not a generic pane that happens to be the right shape.
The urethane cure, and the one hour drive away
The windshield is not just sitting in the frame, it is bonded to the body of the car and is part of what holds the roof up in a rollover and lets the passenger airbag do its job. We use DOW and Sika certified urethane, which reaches drive away strength in about an hour. That is why a typical replacement runs 60 to 90 minutes start to finish instead of leaving the car overnight.
What to do in the first 24 hours
Skip the car wash and do not slam the doors hard for the first day. Slamming a door pushes a wave of air through the cabin that can shift a windshield before the urethane has fully cured, and a wash can drive water into a bond that has not set yet. After that first day the seal is doing its job the way it is meant to.

Rock Chip Repair
Caught early, a chip is a 30 minute walk in. Left alone, it is a windshield.
What we can actually repair
Bullseyes, stars and partial cracks smaller than a quarter are the good news kind of damage. Resin gets injected into the chip, cured and polished flat, and in most cases you are back on the road in about 30 minutes with no appointment needed.
The six inch rule and the driver's sightline
A chip sitting directly in the driver's line of sight, damage longer than six inches, or a chip that has already run into a crack are past what repair can safely or legally fix. At that point the honest answer is a full replacement, and we will tell you that plainly rather than patching something that will keep spreading.
What it costs
Self pay starts at $35.99. If you carry comprehensive coverage it is often $0, and we file the claim for you. California law also stops your insurer from raising your premium over a single comprehensive glass claim, so there is rarely a reason to put off a repair that could still be caught in time.

Move the windshield, and the camera bolted behind it has to be taught where the road is again.
Why a windshield swap needs it at all
Most 2016 and newer vehicles have a forward facing camera mounted right behind the glass, running lane keep assist, forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking. That camera is aimed at the road through the exact spot the old windshield sat in. A new windshield, even a perfect one, sits a fraction differently, and California law requires the camera be recalibrated on any equipped vehicle before it goes back to the driver.
Static versus dynamic, and why we run static
Dynamic calibration has the vehicle driven at speed while the camera relearns lane markings on the move. Static calibration sets a precise target rig in front of the parked vehicle in a controlled space and calibrates it on the spot. We run static in house on Autel certified equipment, which is why this never has to become a second trip to a dealer.
What we calibrate
Toyota, Honda, Ford, Chevrolet, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Hyundai, Kia, Tesla and more, on the same Autel tooling. If another shop replaced your windshield and never calibrated the camera, that is also something we can correct here rather than sending you back to whoever did the original install.

Window Tinting
Ceramic and nano ceramic film that changes how hot the cabin gets, not just how dark it looks.
Dyed, ceramic or nano ceramic
Standard dyed film mostly darkens the glass. Ceramic film blocks 99 percent of UV and a lot more heat without interfering with phone or radio signal. Nano ceramic uses a finer particle compound for better heat rejection, better clarity and more durability than either. We are a Llumar authorized dealer for all of it.
What California actually allows
Front side windows have to let at least 70 percent of light through. Rear side windows and the rear windshield can be any darkness as long as you keep both side mirrors. The windshield itself is limited to a four inch strip along the top. We walk through what is legal for your car before anything gets cut, not after.
Curing and the first week
Keep the windows up for three to five days after the install and keep cleaners away from the film for the first week while it cures. After that, an ammonia free cleaner and a microfiber cloth are all it needs. What travels, and what has to stay in shop
Windshield replacement, rock chip repair and most side and rear glass jobs can all happen at your home, your office or a parking lot. The one thing that cannot travel is static target ADAS calibration, which needs the controlled space and target rig that only exist at the shop, so that step still happens in house even on a mobile job.
The 50 mile radius, and how the appointment runs
We cover roughly 50 miles of El Cajon across San Diego County, by appointment. Tell us the year, make and model plus what happened, and we can usually price the glass and give you a window before we ever load the van.
Cleanup before we leave
A broken back or side window usually means glass inside the car, not just outside it. Our mobile tech vacuums every shard out of the interior before packing up, so you are not still finding it in the seat seams a week later.

Power Window Repair
A window that drops into the door or grinds and stops is usually a regulator or a motor, not the glass.

A window that will not go up or down at all is a different problem from one that moves slowly, grinds, or drops into the door. We diagnose which part actually failed first, glass, regulator or motor, before quoting anything, so you are not paying to replace a part that was never the problem.
Parts for most domestic and import cars
We stock regulators, motors and window assemblies for most domestic and import vehicles, from daily drivers to the exotics that come through for tint and glass work. If a part has to be ordered, we will tell you that up front rather than leaving the window down and hoping.
Same day, most of the time
Once we know which part failed, most power window jobs are a same day repair. A window left down overnight is an open invitation, so we treat these as a first-come-first-served walk in whenever the part is already on the shelf.

These three come through less often than the six above, but they are real work we do every week, not an afterthought.
- Side & Rear Glass
- Door glass, quarter windows, vent glass, liftgates, rear sliders and truck or SUV back glass. Tempered glass does not crack and wait, it goes all at once, so most of these jobs are handled same day.
- Sunroof Repair
- Panoramic, pop up and sliding sunroof glass. We diagnose whether it is the glass itself, a cracked seal, or a clogged drain letting water into the headliner.
- Headlight Restoration
- Cloudy, oxidized lenses get stripped back and resealed in under an hour, which restores both the look and the amount of light actually reaching the road at night.
