What Mobile Auto Glass Service Can (and Can't) Do in Your Driveway

A cracked windshield does not have to mean a trip to us, but there is one part of the job a driveway can never replace.

What Mobile Auto Glass Service Can (and Can't) Do in Your Driveway

How Mobile Service Works

You do not have to drive to El Cajon to get your glass fixed. Our mobile technicians cover a fifty mile radius of El Cajon, which reaches most of San Diego County, and we come to your home, your office, or wherever your car happens to be parked. Mobile appointments are scheduled in advance rather than walk-in, since a technician has to load the right glass and equipment for your specific vehicle before heading out. For a lot of people, that alone is the reason to choose mobile: no rearranging your whole day around a shop visit, no sitting in a waiting room while the work gets done.

What a Mobile Tech Can Handle

Most windshield replacements can be done mobile, right where your car is sitting. Side and rear glass, including back glass after a break in or an accident, is regularly handled in the field as well. If your car has had a window smashed, the technician does not just install the new glass, they clean out the broken glass from the interior too, so you are not finding shards in the carpet a week later. Insurance claims work the same way in the field as they do at the shop, so bring your card and photo ID and we handle the rest.

The One Thing That Has to Happen in Shop

ADAS static target calibration cannot be done mobile. It requires a target board set at an exact distance and height in a controlled space, something a driveway or a parking lot simply cannot provide. If your vehicle has the forward facing camera that most 2016 and newer cars carry, the windshield replacement itself can still happen at your location, but the calibration step has to happen at one of our shops.

So What Happens With ADAS Cars

We will tell you up front whether your car needs static calibration, so there is no surprise second trip. In a lot of cases, we can still get the glass replaced mobile and simply schedule the in shop calibration visit around your day, rather than making you choose between convenience and doing the job right.

The Kind of Jobs We See on the Road

Mobile service is not just for cars sitting in a home driveway. Our vans have serviced a Sycuan Tribal Police vehicle in the field, a San Diego County Fire EMS unit, and exotic cars parked in office and hotel garages around the county. If we can get a technician and the right glass to the location, we can usually do the job, whether that location is a quiet cul-de-sac or a downtown parking structure.

Booking a Mobile Appointment

Mobile visits are by appointment only, unlike rock chip repair at our shops, which is first come, first served for walk-ins. When you call to book, tell us your vehicle's year, make, and model, and whether the damage is the windshield or another piece of glass, and we will let you know what to expect before the technician shows up. If it turns out your car needs work that has to happen in shop, whether that is ADAS calibration or something else, we would rather tell you on the phone than have a technician show up and find out on your driveway.

  • Windshield replacement, at your home, office, or a parking lot
  • Side and rear glass, including back glass after a break in
  • A full clean up of broken glass from the interior, not just the new pane

Whether your car ends up fixed in your driveway or in one of our bays, the work carries the same lifetime workmanship warranty either way. The only difference is where you are standing when it happens.

If You'd Rather Come to Us

Mobile is convenient, but it is not the only option, and it is not always the fastest one either. Both of our El Cajon locations are open Monday through Saturday, closed Sunday, and rock chip repair at either shop is always a walk-in job, no appointment needed. If your damage turns out to need static ADAS calibration, coming straight to a shop skips the extra step of scheduling that visit separately. Either way works. We just want you to know which one fits your situation before you decide.
